Light & Shadow, warm sun & cold breeze, bare skin & embracing touches, curves & edges - uncountable perceptions in only one second or a blink of an eye.
September 2015. Ghana left me speechless for almost a year. I knew how curious many of you were to hear my stories. Yet half of the time I was not able to put into words what I have experienced there, afraid that the combination of letters couldn't do anything near justice to the emotions I felt throughout these five weeks. The next half of the year the memories had already begun to fade slowly so I felt even more that my words would never be appropriate. But now it's time, since I have collected so many new memories in different journeys throughout the year and since another big journey is right ahead of me. I want to share these memories beforehand. So there I go, releasing the photos letting them speak for themselves.

These were shot at Wli waterfall near Hohoe in the Volta Region. We chose to do the longer hike which was the most exhausting and dangerous thing I have ever done. It was so hot although the sun didn't even whine and we expected rain. Still, my sweat soaked through my clothes. We were rewarded with this upper part of the waterfall in its full beauty and intimacy without the presence of other people other than us.

Remember that passion ignites a fire in your body and mind, crawling to be fed hastily by the fruits of your longing. To want and not to give, to see and not to know, to get and not to keep. It feels vitalizing, exciting, uncertain. In the next moment it can be superficial, replacable, heartbreaking. Love however wants and gives, sees and gets to know, gets something and keeps it. It can be all I have described before, yet caring, understanding and patient.

Of bending and breaking, of trying to be someone you are not. There is no need, little girl, to bend yourself until you break. Celebrate who you are, your beautiful uniqueness instead.

I made a promise to myself, that this was the last tear I shed for you. And I made a promise to myself to never trust a man until he has made himself worthy to be trusted.

Uncountable times a day I fall into a sleepy state of wandering through imaginated scenes which are all constructed in my fantasy. They are reflecting my deepest wishes, a tale of everything I am longing for. I would float into a different universe where everything felt right. Where the colour of my skin is of no bad interest other than pointing out the beauty of human diversity. Where my parents are freed from their illness, having a bright and long life ahead of them. Where I see someone beautiful while looking into the mirror. Where a ever-loving boy appears to fill me with all the care and respect I have been craving for so long. Yet I am not supposed to dwell in this otherwordly haze for any longer, I realise quickly after reality pulls me back in to the here and now. The blurry vision fades and leaves back a sharpness that cuts my eyes and makes me want to escape again - from the misery that is me to the bliss that is my daydream.

saw me, swallowed me, teared me apart, spit me out again and i have to accept that i'm weak and you won the fight.

Meine Lieben!

I thought I was a ship that could never sink. I learned how to float on the waves of light. Now, I'm drowning; the light is fading.

Sometimes I'm drowning in light. Too bright, to warm, to clear for me to absorb it. In these moments, everything is illuminated except from a certain dark shaded bitterness inside of me.

Model: Celine
